I'm a little nervous about uploading this to Newgrounds - or any of my vocal entries, since I'm really not sure which of Newgrounds' genres they fit into. But for now, I suppose the miscellaneous category will do.
This song was first conceived in One Hour Compo 486, but later revised and expanded for Chips Compo's "Vocal Compo: Songs" back in February 2018. This final version as uploaded here is basically that version, with a couple of the vocals re-recorded and some additions that were considered excessive removed.

Lyrics:
Back then, we were happy
Facing shore to shore
We made plans to close the wide gap
A distance closer than before
Snapshots held in whispers
Hopes for better days
Did I think it'd all last forever
Just for it all to be erased?
We promised we'd be together
No matter how far we are apart
And if we begin to drift further away
I promise to send you a heart.
~
(Heart strings, breaking)
(Our souls, aching)
Oh, we were in love
Asking what gave
Oh, time and space
Too wide to save
Back then, things seemed better
When we were naive
Even though it didn't work out
Sometimes, we learn from what we grieve.
